We met in 1999 and said farewell in 2023.

At the ripe age of 31 (almost 32) we laid our sweet old man to rest yesterday.

He was a kind and gentle soul who loved his routine, his animal friends and a good brushing session in the spring time.

When you've known an animal for so long, you can't help but reflect back on all the chapters of life. From pre-teen drama to walking him in from the fields while I was in labor with Leo. It's been a lifetime of memories.

The greatest sadness for me isn't in his departure but for Angelica who has known him since she was born 27 years ago and they have lived most of their lives together. This morning she stood by his stall, stood by where we laid his body to rest and she looked like she was grieving her friend. My greatest fear is in her old age, she will soon move on from this world without him by her side. So let us all send a little extra hope for her in the coming days and weeks.

Princeton, it was an honor to be your caregiver and I hope the grass is green and it isn't negative 25 degrees wherever your spirit is now.

If you help us build it, we will fill it! Thank you to everyone who donated in 2022 to help us acquire 2 more puppy palaces.

All three 🐶🏰 (puppy palaces) are occupied tonight! Thank you to @animaladoptioncenterjhwy for transporting these guys to us from @landerpetconnection.

We are expanding our reach and partnerships this year. The two litters that just arrived will head to Boise when they are ready for adoption through @idahohumanesociety.

We are so excited to positively impact more lives through partners, collaboration, thinking creatively and ultimately finding more way to say "yes!"

Stay tuned for more updates 😻

Current Mommy dog up front, Past Mommy dog in the back.

A lot of people go nuts for puppies, but the mamas carry stories we will never know. Even while raising babies, the mama dogs get to rest their bodies and their souls when they get here. They no longer have to think about how to keep themselves and their babies alive all day.

Rest is a huge part of recovery and we let the dogs fully embrace it. ❤️

Growth.

A lot happens in a year. Sometimes, you have tangible evidence of growth and sometimes, it happens quietly every day.

For Fred and Barney, the growth is visible. One year ago, they arrived as tiny, starving, traumatized babies. Today, they are big, robust, outgoing pigs. One thing has stayed consistent: they love belly rubs from @ali.f.anderson.

We keep taking small steps toward bigger hopes and dreams for all the animals in our care and for the people in our community. Thanks for being on this journey of growth with us and all the animals ❤️.

Mommy Dog is pretty happy to be living inside for the holidays and sleeping on a couch. Her days of living under porches are becoming distant memories, and she continues to blossom and become more confident in our home every day.

Happy Holidays to everyone who is on this crazy journey of helping animals and their people with us. You are all the greatest gifts we could ask for.

❤️
